TeachTown Social Skills offers a comprehensive character-based video-modeling curriculum designed to support students in mastering essential social skills. This program features engaging animated characters who guide learners through adventures that focus on cooperation, active listening, respect for personal boundaries, appropriate expression of emotions, and more. Each skill is introduced through a 2 to 3-minute animated episode and is reinforced through a series of daily lessons which include tailored instruction methods, practical activities for real-life application, and assignments for continued practice.

The Elementary Curriculum is tailored for students with a minimum language proficiency of four years, organizing ten specific behaviors within each social skill domain. These behaviors are rooted in key themes such as "Following the Rules" and aim to instill important social competencies like seeking permission before interrupting play. Each behavior is taught in an animated episode and supported by six daily lesson plans structured around clear goals and objectives, related skills, required materials, and precise preparation guidelines.

Designed for adolescent learners, the Middle School Curriculum addresses a variety of crucial social skills essential for this age group including relationship-building, interpersonal communication, problem-solving, self-awareness, personal care, safety awareness, and community engagement. Lessons are crafted to cater to students facing challenges in communication, social interactions, pragmatic language use, self-regulation, critical thinking, and emotional understanding.

TeachTown Social Skills implements evidence-based practices endorsed by The National Professional Development Center on Autism Spectrum Disorder like Naturalistic Interventions, Self-Management techniques, Peer-Mediated Instruction, Video Modeling exercises, and Visual Supports. Lesson plans span across five days for each targeted skill and include extension activities along with useful data collection tools and materials. To foster student autonomy and engagement, the program incorporates student-led interactions like Interactive Activities where learners answer questions based on video clips and Comic Strip Builder exercises where students create social-themed comics.

The inclusion of online assessments facilitates progress monitoring and aids teachers in evaluating students’ grasp of social skills covered in this program.
